Abstract The United States is facing a maternal health crisis with rising rates of mortality and morbidity stark disparities in outcomes by race socioeconomic status. Among the efforts to address this issue, one policy proposal gaining particular traction: extending period Medicaid eligibility for pregnant women beyond 60 days after childbirth. authors examine legislative regulatory pathways most readily available postpartum Medicaid, including their relative political, economic, public trade-offs. They also review state federal activity date discuss impact COVID-19 pandemic on prospects change.
